Privacy Policy
App: Music Photos
Developer: Yanu, LLC
Effective Date: February 14, 2026
Last Updated: February 14, 2026
Yanu, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") creates Music Photos (the "App"). We believe your memories are private. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we handle it, and the choices available to you.
The short version: We built Music Photos to process data locally on your device. We do not upload your photos or videos to our servers. We use Apple's Shazam technology to recognize music and Google's Firebase to help us fix crashes.
1. Information Processing & Collection
We have designed the App to minimize data collection. Most data processing happens directly on your iPhone.
A. Your Photo Library (Local Processing)
The App requests access to your Photo Library to identify videos that contain music.
- How it works: When you grant permission, the App scans your selected videos locally on your device.
- Data Handling: We do not upload your photos or video files to servers owned or operationally controlled by Yanu, LLC. Your media remains on your device or in your personal iCloud Photo Library.
B. Audio Data & Music Recognition
To identify songs within your videos, the App uses ShazamKit (provided by Apple).
- How it works: The App extracts a digital "fingerprint" or signature of the audio from your video.
- Data Handling: This audio fingerprint is sent directly from your device to Apple's Shazam servers to find a match. We do not store or have access to your raw audio recordings. Apple processes this data in accordance with the Apple Privacy Policy.
C. Location Data (Metadata Only)
The App does not track your real-time device location (GPS).
- How it works: If your videos already contain location metadata (e.g., you took a video in Paris), the App reads this stored metadata.
- Reverse Geocoding: To display a readable name (e.g., "Paris, France") instead of coordinates, the App may send these specific coordinates to Apple's Maps services. This data is not used to track your movements, only to label your specific memories.
D. Analytics & Diagnostics
We use Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, and Performance Monitoring) to understand how the App performs and to fix bugs.
- What is collected: We collect anonymized technical data, including device model, iOS version, crash logs, performance metrics, and aggregated usage events.
- What is NOT collected: We do not track individual user identities, names, emails, or the content of your photos through analytics.
2. How We Use Information
We use the data we process to:
- Provide Core Features: To match songs to your videos and organize your library.
- Improve Stability: To identify and fix crashes or performance issues.
- Local Storage: To save your "Matched Songs" history and preferences locally on your iPhone using Core Data.
3. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
We rely on the following trusted third-party service providers to function:
4. Data Retention
- On-Device Data: Data regarding matched songs, artwork, and processing history is stored locally on your device. If you delete the App, this data is permanently removed from your device.
- Analytics Data: Anonymized crash reports and analytical data are retained by Firebase for a limited period (typically up to 14 months) to allow us to analyze trends, after which it is deleted or aggregated.
5. Your Rights & Control
You have full control over your data via iOS Settings:
- Photos Access: You can change the App's access to your Photos (Selected Access, Full Access, or None) at any time in iOS Settings.
- Uninstalling: Uninstalling the App will remove all local databases and cached data created by the App.
- Opt-Out: You may disable "Share iPhone Analytics" in your iOS System Settings, which limits certain diagnostic data shared with developers.
6. Children's Privacy
Music Photos is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13, we will delete it.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our code or legal requirements. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the App or by updating the date at the top of this policy.
8. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us.
